Reduction of intussusception under general anesthesia by hydrostatic technique: the RIGHT technique

Abstract Background Intussusception is the one of commonest causes intestinal obstruction requiring urgent attention in early childhood. There no gold standard non-operative reduction. We report our 6 years’ experience reduction using “RIGHT” (Reduction under General anesthesia Hydrostatic Technique) technique, emphasizing need to perform procedure operating room (OR) general anesthesia. This prospective observational study covering period from July 2014 till May 2020 included patients diagnosed with intussusception. was performed OR by infusing a saline enema and confirmed ultrasound. Results Forty-eight underwent RIGHT technique. Successful achieved 44 (91.6%) patients. Four (8.3%) needed surgery, three (6.2%) due failed (2.0%) perforation. One (2.2%) patient developed recurrence. Conclusions The technique combination best available techniques It ensures safety being OR, pain free, avoiding radiation, risk aspiration associated sedation, also able immediately address failure or complication surgical exploration.
